Upon the completion of a successful pressure test, prior to being brought into service in many cases the pipelines require to be completely dry. This is to prevent any contamination to the product the pipeline will be carrying, or to ensure there is no danger of corrosion of the internal surfaces due to the presence of moisture. Further to this the pipeline may require an oxygen free atmosphere for the same reason, this can be achieved via a nitrogen purge.
